What we pour

Three books of work, one crew that finishes them

Most concrete companies pick a side. Merced runs residential, commercial and heavy civil out of the same shop, which means the crew forming your driveway apron has also poured structural deck and highway channel. Pick your lane below.

Why it holds up

Concrete fails below the surface, so that is where we spend the time

Almost every cracked, sunken or spalling slab traces back to one of four things. Here is how we handle each of them before the truck ever shows up.

Step 01

Subgrade & Compaction

Soft or uneven soil is the number one reason slabs crack and settle. We strip, fill and compact to a uniform base so the whole pour bears evenly.

Step 02

Forms, Grade & Drainage

Grade is set with a purpose. Water gets pushed away from your foundation or into the channel it was designed for, not toward a low spot you find out about in the next storm.

Step 03

Steel Placed Correctly

Rebar and mesh only work at the right depth and spacing, held on chairs. We install our own steel, so nobody is guessing what is under the finish.

Step 04

Finish, Joints & Cure

Control joints go in on a plan, not by feel. Then the slab gets cured instead of abandoned, which is what keeps the surface tight and the color even.

Major airport terminal project

Landside flatwork at a major airport terminal. Radius sidewalk formed and poured, curbside walkways, and canopy slab work, all sequenced around live traffic and other trades. The same crew that pours a driveway in Griffin.

Getting a number

Three steps, no sales visit you have to sit through

Estimates are free. The quote form takes about a minute, and nine times out of ten it tells us most of what we need to price the job.

  1. 1

    Send us the details

Fill out the quote form with your address, the service you need, and roughly how big the area is. Commercial and civil bidders can flag the bid package in the message field.

  2. 2

    Short call to confirm

We go over access, thickness, finish, drainage and timing. If a site walk is genuinely needed we schedule it then, not before.

  3. 3

    Written quote & a date

You get the scope and the price in writing, with a start window. No line items appearing later that were not in the number you approved.

Questions

Straight answers before you commit

Are estimates free?

Yes, on every service. Fill out the quote form with your address and rough dimensions and we can usually get you a number without a site visit. For commercial and civil bids, mention the bid package in the message and we will follow up for the plan set.

Do you work as a subcontractor for general contractors?

Regularly. Commercial place and finish, rebar installation, sidewalks, curb and gutter, parking lots and aprons are a large share of our volume. We are licensed and insured, we work off the plan set, and we coordinate around the other trades on your schedule.

Do you install your own rebar, or do we need a separate sub?

We install our own steel. Rebar and mesh only do their job at the right depth and spacing, so keeping placement and pour under one crew removes the handoff where that usually goes wrong.

How long before I can drive on a new driveway?

Foot traffic is generally fine after about 24 hours. Passenger vehicles should stay off for roughly seven days, and heavy trucks or dumpsters for about 28 days while the concrete reaches full strength. We give you the specific window for your pour before we leave.

Can you repair existing concrete instead of replacing it?

Often, yes. Cracking, spalling, settled sections and damaged edges can frequently be repaired for a fraction of a tear out. Sometimes the honest answer is that the slab has failed at the base and replacement is the cheaper decision over ten years. We will tell you which one you are looking at.

Do you take on local government and public infrastructure work?

Yes. Drainage canals and channels, municipal concrete projects, and transportation concrete installation and repair are part of what we do. Send the solicitation details through the quote form and we will tell you quickly whether it is a fit.

Who will actually be on my job?

Merced Concrete is locally owned and Polo runs the work. You are talking to the person responsible for the pour, not a call center, and the same crew that quotes the job is the crew that finishes it.
